Bankey Bihari Temple is the most famous temple in the Vrindavan and also a very popular tourist attraction as the temple is surrounded by the city’s most revered food hub .The temple is a tribute to the mischievous Lord Krishna. The name “Banke” is derived because the idol of lord Krishna is bent at three angles and “Bihari” means the supreme enjoyer. This charismatic idol was built in 1860 and poses to be a remarkable work by the Rajasthani architecture. At Bankey Bihari Ji Mandir the supreme power of the universe is pampered like a small child and this is the reason temple doesn’t have the tradition of Mangala (early) morning aarti , so that lord is not disturbed by morning bells and have complete rest. Mangla Arti here is done only once a year on the occasion of Janmashtami. The idol of Bankey Bihari Ji is at regular intervals covered with curtains and it is only on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya that his feet is shown to the devotees.
